The topic of gut health has been talked about for years, but over the past year I have seen an enormous increase of emphasis on gut health in the health/medical communities.
We are really starting to understand that if we don’t address the ROOT CAUSE- which in SO MANY cases is balancing/healing the gut, that we really are going to have a hard time truly reaching our health and weight loss goals.
And with all the chemicals in our food and products, combined with nervous system dysregulation and constant stress, our gut health as a whole is at an all time low.
One thing that I want to address when it comes to gut health is that if you are dealing with fungal or bacterial infections/overgrowth, nutrition alone may not correct the problem.
You can't plant a garden, without pulling those weeds first!
So while nutrition, mindset, and lifestyle play a huge role in gut health, you may need additional intervention if you truly want to heal the gut. These interventions can be herbal supplementation and/or prescriptions. I know that taking pharmaceuticals isn't always an ideal option, but sometimes there is a time and a place.
And remember - testing is VITAL! Do not just assume you know what is happening with your gut and start throwing random supplements or probiotics at it. This could be a recipe for disaster.
The other thing to consider with any sort of gut imbalance is that MOTILITY is KING…meaning - if you aren’t pooping daily this is a problem! This is actually one of the biggest root causes when it comes to gut issues in general, and if you are “treating” any sort of bacteria or fungus, you must be sure that motility is happening, otherwise it’s actually not going to get out of your system.
Lifestyle interventions like getting adequate sleep, lowering stress, adding in aerobic activity and supplementation can be helpful when it comes to improving your gut motility. Things like aloe, magnesium citrate, pre-biotic fiber and probiotics can help to support gut motility.
You can find supplements to support gut health on my webshop and here are a few I recommend personally:
